Good prep is half the battle!
First, you can start by preheating your oven to 190°C. Whilst that heats up, you can cut off the top of your garlic head, slightly exposing the top of the cloves. Generously coat with olive oil and wrap tightly in tin foil. When the oven is preheated, you can begin to cook. Allow them to stay in the oven for 1 hour.
Whilst that is cooking in the oven, you can prepare your other ingredients. At this stage, I usually put all the ingredients in my food processor. This way, when the garlic cloves are finished, you can simply add the garlic, blend it up, and serve/enjoy! Go ahead and drain/rinse your chickpeas and add them to your food processor as well as all your other ingredients. I think it is also important to note that if you do not have garlic cloves, you can also simply use garlic powder instead. This may be a better option for anyone with limited time. In addition, the amount of garlic and/or garlic powder added is totally up to you and how garlicky you want your hummus to taste! The same goes for the quantity of salt.
Once your head of garlic is done, you can take it out and let it cool on the side. Using your fingers, you can softly squeeze out the garlic from each clove straight into your food processor! Finally, you can blend. Let all your ingredients blend thoroughly, this may take a few minutes. If necessary, you can add a little bit more olive oil, but make sure that it is fully blended before adding more oil. Make sure you take your time with this step and scrape off the sides of the food processor to make sure all the ingredients are well blended.
Your only limits are your imagination!
Time to serve – this is the fun part! You can add your hummus to a bowl or plate and smooth out the top with the back of a spoon. The toppings are optional, however, I added some drizzled olive oil, chilli flakes and of course, my CBD drops!
I used 10% CBD Isolate from Green Cuisine CBD. This is my go-to oil as the only two ingredients are organic CBD extracts and organic olive oil, meaning it tastes exactly like regluar olive oil! Adding this on top of a dish I used olive oil in means the flavour blends right in, making it the perfect CBD oil to use for cooking! You can add this CBD isolate on top of any hummus you make. Your only limits are your imagination!
This is a great way to add extra nutritional value to your hummus! CBD has so many benefits for the mind and body, which is why I take it everyday.
Sit back & Enjoy
Finally, you can sit back with some fresh veggies, bread, or crisps and enjoy your delicious CBD garlic hummus. I never buy store-bought hummus anymore after discovering how easy it is to make my own!
Store-bought hummus often comes in a plastic container and it over-priced most of the time when considering its cheap ingredients. This means making it yourself at home minimizes plastic and saves you money!
Plus, you can add as much or as little seasoning/flavour as you wish, creating your dream hummus.
