I gave up coffee a long time ago and happily replaced it with matcha! I still have the occasional coffee here and there, but I prefer matcha these days. Coffee used to give me an uncomfortable spike in energy and a fast crash. Although this was helpful at times, it had a bad effect on my health. This is why I am sharing my daily matcha latte recipe with you today! It’s a great option to have as a coffee alternative to give your body a break once in a while.
This is a super simple recipe I make every day that won’t take longer than 5-6 minutes of your time.
Step 1. Put your coconut milk and CBD coconut oil into a sauce pan on low heat. If you want to know how to make my CBD coconut oil, check out my CBD space cakes recipe where I take you through the process! It is a lot easier than you may think.
Step 2. Add your matcha to a cup with a little bit of boiling water. You don’t need much water for this, just enough to make a very runny paste. Use a fork or mini whisk and stir.
Step 3. Once your water and matcha are combined well enough, you can run your paste through a handheld strainer and into another cup. This isn’t 100& necessary but I don’t like having matcha lumps in my latte!
Step 4. Add your syrup of choice to the hot matcha mix. Feel free to leave out the syrup if you want to be extra healthy and cut out the unnecessary sweetener. I personally usually leave this step out but I wanted to include it because I know most people don’t enjoy the bitterness of matcha. Now you have your latte base!
Step 5. Once your coconut milk and CBD coconut oil has bonded and is warm but not boiling, add it to the cup with your latte base and mix well.
Step 6. This last step is totally optional and I don’t do this every day. If you want to, feel free to squirt some vegan whip cream onto of the latte for extra creaminess and sweetener!
That’s it! Super simple and delicious latte in 5 minutes! Not only is this latte super tasty, but it is also packed full of nutrients and benefits for the mind and body. Keep reading for some additional facts about matcha, coconut milk, and CBD that make this latte extra special.
Matcha: Although matcha powder contains quite a bit of caffeine due to it belonging to the green tea family tree, it doesn’t process in our bodies the way we might expect it to. One thing that makes matcha so special is the fact that it contains l-theanine, which is a nootropic that promotes relaxation. This nootropic calms the effects of the caffeine, making it a more mild experience. The reaction between these two substances is what gives this drink its effects. You can expect to feel the mild effects appear within 35 minutes of drinking your latte. You will feel energized for much longer than you would from coffee and you do not experience any ‘crash’.
Using Matcha generally won’t disrupt your circadian rhythm as long as you have 1 regular serving in the morning and not in the afternoon/evening. However, everyone is different and some seem to fall asleep just fine even after having matcha in the afternoon. Drinking matcha will improve your brain function, increase energy in a natural way, enhance performance, and could even boost creativity!
Tip: Enjoy your daily cup of matcha with a square of dark chocolate. This will help you amplify your overall focus and brain function(s) without the unwanted negative side effects of coffee.
CBD: Pairing CBD with the nootropic found in matcha, l-theanine, you can expect to experience a noticeable decrease in stress and anxiety. Not to mention, CBD is also good for the brain. Supplementing CBD could improve your memory and decrease symptoms of depression. CBD directly affects the nervous system, working as a natural relaxant. With a small dose of CBD, like in this recipe, you will feel less tense and stressed, but not to the point where it will hinder your motivation-especially when paired with matcha!
If you want to improve your wellbeing and brain health, then this is a very simple way to do so. If you don’t like the idea of having to make a matcha latte every day to supplement CBD, then don’t worry- you can simply take CBD drops as well. I personally enjoy making this recipe and always have CBD coconut oil in my kitchen. CBD also binds extremely well with fats, so you don’t have to worry about losing any CBD contents in your oil/milk as almost none of it will break down as long as you don’t allow it to heat over 320 Degrees Fahrenheit. This recipe is perfect for those wanting to supplement CBD in a recipe accurately.
