Cooking with CBD

cooking with CBD; when two exciting worlds merge! If you are a foodie and love CBD, then you have come to the right place! Every two weeks, I write cooking blogs for Green Cuisine CBD’s recipe section. I try to keep things interesting while making food that looks and tastes delicious. And is, of course, cannabidiol infused to nourish the mind, body, and soul.

I have always had a strong passion for cooking. My passion for CBD came after I first learned about CBD via my work with Green Cuisine. It only made sense to merge the two!

In this blog, I will be going over a few things regarding what, how and why I cook with cannabidiol and why you should as well!

What is CBD?

CBD, also referred to as cannabidiol, is one of over 100 different cannabinoids found in the cannabis and hemp plant. This is a non-psychoactive compound, meaning it will never result in any high! This is a big misconception when it comes to CBD.

Planting Hemp to save the World

This compound is most commonly extracted from the hemp plant as it naturally hosts higher contents of CBD when comparing it to traditional cannabis. Since cannabinoids are harder to breed out than to breed in, it only makes sense to extract I from hemp!

Cannabinoids, such as CBD, work with our endocannabinoid system. Essentially, this is a massive system that all mammals have which allow our bodies to receive and interact with cannabinoids! Without this system, cannabinoids would have zero effect on us.

Why cook with CBD?

Where do I even start? First and foremost, CBD offers us so many benefits for the mind and body. Adding CBD to your food doesn’t make it more potent than taking it the way you usually would. If I am honest, the only different thing is that it is simply a more exciting way to get in your daily dose of CBD!

If you love to cook  like I do, then this is simply a fun addition to loads of dishes and drinks. I also like to add CBD to my dishes if I am cooking for others to add a bit of a ‘special ingredient’ if you will.

I use CBD every day for various reasons. It really helps keep my anxiety at bay. I am also very prone to nausea, so CBD is a very important part of my daily routine so I can try to avoid unnecessary nausea at all times. The reason why it helps with that is that it has very powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which is usually what my nausea stems from.

Aside from all of that, I just like to experiment when I am in my kitchen and I think this has been a very fun journey that has added additional nutrients and fun to my dishes!

Why use Green Cuisine products for cooking?

I love that all 100% of the ingredients in all of their products are totally organic! When it comes to feeding your body with nourishment, organic ingredients is a must in my books! I also love that they carry CBD isolate (read more below) which is a tasteless oil. Obviously, this is perfect for cooking since you can add it into any dish without it altering the taste at all!

Green cuisine has also been running since 2016, which can project a type of trust. All of their products are made with an abundance of quality, which is vital when putting anything into your body! Not to mention, their prices are very affordable when considering the quality of all the ingredients.

Lastly, all of their products are made in-house with love and care! In my opinion, all of these aspects should be carefully considered when looking for the right CBD company for you and your needs.

How to cook with CBD

There are likely a bunch of different ways one can cook with CBD, however, I like to keep it simple. If you know me and know my cooking blogs, you know that I enjoy creating easy recipes for others as I know that many individuals like to take it easy in the kitchen.

CBD Drops

When it comes to cooking with CBD, drops are my go-to! More specifically, CBD isolate drops. The kind of extraction often determines the taste of the drops as well as the ingredients that are included. Green Cuisine’s isolate drops use a clean and pure CBD CO2 extraction!

Along with this pure cannabidiol extraction is some organic olive oil. That’s it! Only the two ingredients are in their isolate drops-no need for unnecessary additives!

CBD herb – make your own CBD oil!

In one of the recipes, I made I ended up making my own CBD coconut oil.

When it comes to baking, this may be the better option vs the drops. CBD binds to fats and oils best. You can make your own oil by using our CBD herb! It doesn’t need to be done with the decarboxylation process, unlike THC. I like to make big batches of it and put it aside for use over time.

My personal recommendation would be to use CBD isolate drops for cooking and CBD herb oil for baking.

What heat does CBD break down at?

Something to keep in mind when cooking or baking with CBD is that it can only be heated up so much until it begins to dissolve and breaks down. This is super important to consider when thinking about adding cannabidiol to a dish or drink!

Never heat your CBD past the heat of 160°C (320°F). This goes for the drops and should also be carefully considered during the herbal oil making process if you choose to do so yourself.

Closing:

Cooking with CBD is simply a fun way to get in your daily dose of CBD! It is also likely easier than you would have imagined. Of course, there are going to be more challenging ways to incorporate cannabidiol into your ingredients list. However, I like to keep things simple so that anyone with any cooking skill level can add CBD to their dishes/drinks!
